    Christmas Came Early!

Just got in all of my top end parts from Potter, besides the cam because that was a custom grind from Comp and hasn't shipped out yet.

    Re: Christmas Came Early!

Nice! Wish I could afford those rockers. Now that I look, Potter has some good deals on stuff. Like copper headgaskets from him are under $100, from Flash they're 150-225! I'm definately going to hit up Potter for some parts; good prices and the coolest of the vendors with all his posts at CB7 and his awesome EMC motor...

What size valves are those? I swear when I get whatever valves I decide to go with and some JE700 pistons, I'm going to go to one of the local Honda meets and show them what's up. Tell 'em it's a 2.1 motor... 2.1 gallons, bitches!

I almost got a set of JE700 pistons, 4.468" bore, would've made for 540ci, that'd have been sweet, but some other guy got them yesterday for $80, dammit! 2.3 gallons of displacement, that's just plain cool to say.

    Re: Christmas Came Early!

Yeah man, I am loving the rockers. I got a good deal on them. I know they were $1050 before he made the next run or whatever, then they were and are $750. I told him I wanted to go with the roller tips ($550) and he said for just $100 more he would give me the others. I took him up on that, and I'm pleased. You should see the pushrods he gave me! They are 3/8" wide and 10.250 inches long. Extremly beefy. It isn't that the other rockers wouldn't have sufficed, but I figured why not, and these look completly bombproof!

The valves are the 2.11/1.77 shown on Potters site. A full set of one piece, stainless, swirl polished valves for $239 is quite a deal IMHO.

You are right, he does have some great deals and is extremly cool. Your idea about the 2.1 motor is awesome! I think I did the math for the 509 and it same out to be almost exactly 2.2 gallons. Sounds very beastly.

Were the JE700's on Ebay or what? $80...that is a good deal! Too bad man!

The camshaft should be in Monday, so that will be cool. Potter put in a special order to Comp. I think the final specs were .540 lift, .246 duration, and 110 lobe seperation.

After my intake and carb come in sometime next week, all that will be left wo wait on is the heads (out being ported) and then I will be able to finish assembling the engine.

Glad to se that you got some goodies from Potter. I've spent about $3,500.00 with him over the last 6 months collecting parts and machine work on a hopefully bulletproof 509. Got the Ross 10:1 forged pistons, scat h-beams, roller tip rockers, stud girdle & custom pan, bulldog aluminum dominator intake, his 2002 EMC soild lift cam, and ported & polished 950 heads. Potter is too cool and lives just an hour away. He is even going to help me build the motor and dyno it. Can't beat his prices and dedication to BBCaddy stuff. I would only buy stuff from him and JW. Only Potter is so much closer. Both those guys are good people. Good luck on your projects!

That is very cool that you live so close to Potter. I'm going to have to drive a couple of hours to dyno my engine in car when I finish it.

What kind of power are you looking for at the crank? At the wheels? I am just trying to get an estimation on what kind of power I'll be making myself.

    Cheers!

Don't know what to expect, but should be well over 500 hp and 600 tq. Wouldn't be surprised if it's more with some Potter tricks. Got forged goodies in case I ever want to spray it. I'm not a big fan of nitrous, but should be able to handle it if I ever go that way. I had the choice of going 13:1, but opted against it because I don't have a car that would handle it. I have had a blast with my basically stock motors, but am ready for more power. Not in a big hurry to build since I will need to work on my cars some before we are ready to install.

    Have a good un

Yeah I am in the same boat. Although to me numbers aren't as important as how it feels to me.

I may hook up a cheater kit with a 125 shot if I feel like spending the money, just for fun. My prepped stock rods should be able to take it, or so they say. A lot of my confidence is gained from LUXLX's stock rods and pistons being able to take the repetitive 250 shots he throws at them!

    Re: Christmas Came Early!

Not to mention the power caddycarlo has been putting down with the stock bottom end...

The JE700s were from a local guy. There's a set with rods on eBay now but it's already going for higher. If I haven't found a cheap set and he still has his, I'll buy the set that Dave Brode(sp.) off CB7 has for $200. I figure if I want to run redonkulous spray or turbo it I'll need head studs and copper gaskets anyway so it wouldn't end up being more expensive going with the 2.3.

The valves... that reminds me I've heard about using some valves from a Pontiac motor or something in the BBCad, I need to research that some more...

Al at MTS is a cool guy too and I'll probably end up ordering parts from him as well. I've never talked to Courtney or Chris at Flash though. I'd order parts from then if they gave me a ride in their 10s Deville though!

On another note, I almost rear ended some guy in the 75 today. It was at one of those damn red light cameras, he should've just gone for it but he stopped, full on and I could tell his ABS was kicking in. I might just have to go with frickin drag radials on the front wheels as well, just for sheer stopping power.

    Re: Christmas Came Early!

Ah I see. Well it would be cool to have those JE700s. What amount of spray are you shooting for?

The valves that Potter sells (the valves in that picture) are based off of Pontiac valves, just a bit more fancy (swirl polished, etc). Before the aftermarket had grown any, lots of people were using the Pontiac valves for the 500's

Al is pretty cool. I was going to get a cam from him, but went ahead and got it from Potter when I ordered all of his stuff. I am, however, still going to use a set of his copper header (not head!) gaskets. I've talked to Chris at Flashcraft, I think I'm going to be using their headers.

Glad you didn't hurt the '75 or the other car. Wrecks are no fun. I hate bad drivers. I feel bad saying that being only 16 but I have noticed I'm a lot better at driving than plenty of people around here
