Re: 68 wont start
I am not sure of the symptoms. If you are saying that the starter motor will not run then a guess would be the neutral safety switch. Try starting in neutral and try to engage the starter while moving the shifter around.
Double check the I. and S. terminals to make sure they are not reversed.
Make sure the small wire is on the inside post(closest to the engine block). Does the starter turn over, but not engage the engine? If so, remove the flywheel cover and check the starter itself for cracks. My caddy was too advanced, so it kicked back and tore apart the starter; the starter spun, but didn't engage. The ground strap should be cleaned as well. Does the starter click? Try hitting it with a peice of wood and a hammer. Thats my 2-cents.
thanks davesdeville. sorry (matter f fact it probably would make things easier to read ) do you know anything more about the fusiblelink i thought the problem could possibly be a blown fuse somewhere .
Apeman thanks ill check the terminals to make sure they are not reversed.
7.0,hellyeah- i probably do need to cllen that oily ground strap. I believe it is the starter clicking but it my just be other wires activating im not sure
