    425 engine swap

I currently have a 1982 Deville with a 4100 in it. I just found a 78 with a 425. Would that be a direct swap? What else would I need to do?

    Re: 425 engine swap

You should grab the complete drive train. 425, TH 400 transmission, and the rear axle. Buy the whole car. That way you can swap it all over and have any parts you need. Plus you may be able to sell off some of the other parts to recapture your expenses. The 425 will not bolt up to your existing transmission and will not work well with the existing rear axle under your car now.

The whole drivetrain works but how are you going to get it through inspection being in Kalifornia?
