    Re: coolant temp sensor location

There are 2 different ones. Passenger side cylinder head near one corner next to a head bolt in the same plane. That one is a normally open switch to disable blower with cold engine calling for heat.

Driver side same place mirror image of the passenger. Normally open runs overheat idiot lamp.

AFAIR there is not a coolant sensor on the carbonated engines. That is to say nothing dipped in the antifreeze flow. Those switches/sensors screw into cast iron.

Oh ok, mine coolant temp light keeps flashing on and off even when the engine is cold, how can you tell if your engine is overheating?? I flushed the coolant, replaced thermostat i drove it all day and not a problem. The light flashes on and off .like random

Mine is doing something similar. I have the carbed 368. Light was on and the car hadn't run in a few days. I changed the stat now it comes on sometimes. It's more random. I want to install a temp gage just need to figure out which sensor needs to be replaced with gage sensor.
