    472 vacuum storage canister

    hey there,
    i'm checking for vacuum leaks and want to know...is the vacuum storage canister suppose to hold a vacuum when the car is not running?

    Good ol' grapefruit juice can with a nipple soldered in.........

    When the car and that vacuum nest of snakes and check valves was new I'll bet it held some vacuum overnight - now, at 40 years old, unless the can bleeds off very quickly at shut-down you're still OK. You could do some searching for those inline vacuum restrictors and check valves, but they'll be hard to find. There are quite a few vacuum toys on the "Help !" racks at large parts stores.
