I have just fitted new valve lifters and oil pump .I have oil coming up to the rockers but was slow and lifters are noisey
There was a problem with low oil to top of engine and one crook lifter which prompted me to fit new parts
could there be a problem with pick up that would cause this

    Re: noisey lifters

If you are concerned about the oil pressure it would probably worth it to hook up a real gauge to verify it. It does take a long time for the oil to get to the rockers but since the oil is up there now it should be ok.

Most mechanics will pre fill lifters by putting them in a jar of oil and depressing the check valve repeatedly to fill, THEN install them. New lifters on an old cam require the engine be started and let run for 15 to 20 min. at fast idle to wear in the lifters to the cam. Dry lifters might take an hour or more to fill.
