    1971 Deville 472

Hey guys, I have a 1971 Deville with a 472 in it. It got in a flood, but I dropped the oil and tranny fluid and the car starts great and moves good. However, at an idle it has just a little miss (not bad at all) but when I try to gas it, it picks up until about half throttle then it starts sputtering and back firing and normally dies, but will always start right back up. I have tried a new distributor and carburator and neither of them made a difference. Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions what else to try? Thanks.

It sounds like it could be running out of fuel. It probably needs a fuel pump. Since it is backfiring too I would still suspect the points a little. If the fuel pump checks out or gets replaced, any other problems will be the points.
