    powerglide

    Hello, I have a 77 sedan deville has anyone put a power glide behind a 425,472,or a500 how did it work? With the torque and the long gear is it ok hows the mpg?

    I think the last powerglide was in 1965 in a Chevy. The bolt pattern is different between all other GM engines and Chevys. Starter mounting I believe is different as well.

    GM did make a powerglide with a BOP housing, which could be used.

    I guess I don't really know why you would want a two-speed transmission, but of course the old Fordomatic and Powerglide did the job OK. If I remember correctly, some early 60's Pontiacs had a two-speed box, like a Hydramatic 300. Maybe that's the "slim-jim" that carnut mentioned (?)

    Growing a friend had a 68 Chevelle a 350 and a powerglide it was bad and cool. I think the powerglide would be great for racing,BB caddy would pull hard all the way thru first gear and cruse second.
