Anyone have any idea how to remove this steering pulley?

So I tried with one of those "universal" pullers with no avail. I hope I'm just doing something wrong here, cause as of now I'm running under the assumption that the dark lord himself designed this. Any ideas?

edit: Sorry for the cross post, I tried to delete this thread but it doesn't let me.

That looks like the early style... To take off the nut you have to use a impact wrench...trying to hold the pulley and turn the nut with a wrench just don't work well...when the nut is off you should be able to tap the pulley off..

That makes sense. However, when I use an impact wrench whats to keep the pulley from spinning?

yep, just did mine last month. Just use an air impact gun and it will free the nut and then you can wiggle the pulley off.

In the absence of an impact gun I decided to just go ahead an use more elbow grease, probably a lot more than I should have. So apparently that nut was cross threaded and that's why it was so hard to take off. As for the new pump there is still a lot of air in the system that I need to take out but here are my partners in crime:
