I would but wont it affect smog? Its al linked into the EGR, Carb, etc. In the offical cadillac repair manuel, its listed as a dist/egr TVS. Not sure what it means though. Maybe thermo vacuum switch? I think it controls how much vacuum is applied depending on the temp of the motor. Possible?

Well, least I figured it out guys. The TVS is a temperature Vacuum Switch. Its purpose is for adjusting the timing depending on the temperature and retarding it if overheating were to occur. (or so Im told) I called around and its a discontinued part, so Im off to the junkyard to snag a "new" one. Ive been told I can bypass this, but I think its better to leave the car as original as possible. Since this piece was literally broken in half, Im positive that the vacuum problems I have been experiencing are due to vacuum escaping through this torn off switch. It has 5 ports on it, one leads to the vac advance on the dist., and the other side leads to the egr, carb, and whatever M is. So fingers crossed, my baby will have full vacuum and timing will no longer be an issue. Ill update as soon as I find out. Thanks to everyone.
