I have a 69 Coupe Deville that came with no alternator. The one we put in does NOT charge the battery or run the car. Auto Zone had one with the external Volatge Regulator, which has been tested and mounted. I verified this is the part AZ says it should take, but the schematics don't jive 100%. I'm pretty sure the blue, white, <orange-fusible link-red>, main wire to batt, and ground wires are connected right. There is the matter of a brown wire that is run with the white and blue, but has no where to connect to. This brown wire goes to a couple of places, like the voltage regulator plug, the fuse block under the dash, and is connected to the gen light (which comes on). I think we aren't "exciting" the generator, but am unclear on what to do. Pictures are below. Does anyone else have pics (or can take pics) of the back of their alternator perhaps? Anyone have an idea where this brown spade connector should attach? Thanks.
