79 Caddy Sleeper

Hello everyone,

It's been a while since I've posted, my life has been nuts. I built a 79 CDV with my dad a couple years ago and put a 505 in it. That post was called Payback, 500 Caddy style.

Anyway there have been upgrades, 2.5" duel exhaust with a x-pipe, flowmaster Delta 50s (yes - it sounds fantastic.), and a cool gauge set my dad designed - I owe some updates... the one attached was taken at about 70MPH one evening and no matter what speed you are doing there is always more.

But now to this year. Headers - I've done some research and found out Jeff Schwartz used a set of BBC headers for a 64-77 Chevelle and changed the flanges - has anyone else done this???

Also, we want to upgrade the rear-end. After looking at what it takes to change the stock 10 bolt 2.28 into a 3.08 posi, I think its smarter to stuff a 9" Ford in it. I've looked for a stock posi replacement, but they are really hard to find in Canada.

Just wondering if anyone out there has any experience on this?

Thanks in advance and hope everyone's projects are going well.

Cheers,
Bovey

Re: 79 Caddy Sleeper

If you really want a 3.08 posi look for a older chevy cop car rear.. 96 and under is a bolt in... using BBC headers and changing the flanges has been done many times...

Re: 79 Caddy Sleeper

Wondered if the '96 and under 10 bolts would fit... glad to hear they do. However, they are an inch wider - which sucks, 'cause we will be installing a set of 275/60 white walls and would prefer a narrower rear-end.

Also, in Canada most '96 full size cars are either cabs or demo derby cars by now up here. I have a couple feelers out, but the first 3.08 posi had 380k out of an ex cop - turned taxi.

Thanks for confirmation. I'll keep looking and post the results.
