I think this question has come up before and I think it was doable. Maybe the bump will get you some help. |

However you could drill 2 new holes in the trans, or get a '68 up trans, or rebuild your 67 switch pitch trans internals into a newer case.
If your 472 isn't from an Eldorado, you'll need Eldo oil pan, maybe oil pump,
and exhaust manifolds. The 472 is a new design, expect details different.
Accessories, you might need to use a 472/500 set, or at least brackets. Not sure about engine mounts, but they are similar.

Someone from my Caddy performance group did it. I’m not sure what mods are needed, but from the above reply, I would think that pulling the whole engine/tranny unit from a 70 up Eldo. I’m not sure if the 71-76 spindles are the same as 69 - 70, but while the engine is out, it would be a good time to do a disc break upgrade since the steel lines would need to be changed too. If you can find a 69 or 70 in salvage, then you can get everything you need and it should be a direct bolt on. They guy who did the swap said he also wants to eventually install a blower.
Note: The exhaust outlets on the heads come out in the same location as the 460 Ford does (the engines were designed by the same man) so it is possible that 460 Ford headers could be found that would work in that body with modifications. The exhaust flange would have to be changed to get them to bolt to the Caddy block – but Caddy 500 performance shops sell those flanges as well as header gaskets. They may also know if anyone has found headers that will fit that body; when I get my 70 Eldo back on the road, I will be looking for headers – but they may have to be custom built for it.
~Good look with the car, and don’t let me talk you into too many upgrades at one time- it is better to finish it one mod at a time and drive it than to tackle too many projects at one and wind up with a basket-case that sits in the garage for two years. |

Headers are a real problem on these cars, because the trans gets in the way on the drivers' side. Bruce Roe |

It's a complete swap from the '72 eldo
including brackets and motormounts.
Do i need other motor brackets or will i have to cut of a piece from the steering bracket?
Has anyone delt with this problem?
Hope you guys can help me

However, I'm surprised the 72 Eldo engine setup has a problem. Getting a different filter mount might fix it if you have access to some. Or an oil filter relocating kit could be a fast fix. If it was just an interfering bracket, I would look at modifying it, but not any moving parts. Some later oil filters are smaller, would that help? Is the car right hand drive? Might need a picture here to understand exactly the problem. Bruce Roe CLC # 14630 |

The Cad Co. has them, and I have one on a 500 that's going in a Chevy. |
