77 fleetwood brougham engine

Hi all, I have a 77 caddy with 425 engine, it smokes sometimes when press on accelerator, then goes away, white smoke. Does any one know where I can get a shortblock 425? reasonable? any ideas on the smoke also welcome. I will consider a wrecked car with good motor also, thanks george.

It sounds like one of your head gaskets is giving up. There is propably enough sealing left at normal operations, but under hard acceleration it draws coolant across the seal. It could also be that your radiator cap isn't holding pressure and overfilling the reservoir, which dumps on the same side as your exhaust system. The easy check is to install a new 16# cap and try again. If you are sure it's coming out the tailpipe after that you better hurry to your mechanic and have a block check test done.
