Where to get a 368 crate engine

Guys,

A friend of mine ahs a '79 Eldo with a dead engine. he'd rather get a new crate engine to replace it rather than mess aroound rebuilding the original one (his words!)

So, where could I get a good, reliable crate engine from from a reliable, reputable supplier who will ship?

Hey nick i havent seen you on here for some time .. This is chris from ny , i helped you track down the yellow 79 coupe for your friend .. How did the car end up .. I would love to see some pics of it as well

I would contact MTS in CA. I don't know if they have a 368 but they do have others in the same family that will bolt in....

Chris,

Hi - the yellow Caddy coupe deVille arrived and turned out fine. It is a really relayy nice car. Almost 100% original. All he had to do was replace the rear end of the exhaust.
I'll post pics - probably best under the original thread.

Go to the top of this page, click on Cadillac Parts. This brings you to a listing with the first being engines. Click on Cadillac Crate Engines listed by size. The reference here is for HiPerformer Remanufactured engines. The 425 is listed for 1653.00. They offer a 7 year 100,000 mi. warranty. Claim to be of comparable or better quality to factory crate engine.

I have a short block that was re-manned. I also have re-manned heads to go with it. I am in Harrisburg PA

That's a real nice coupe. Mine used to look that good. I have it sitting in one of my garages, waiting for me to get busy on it, but life keeps getting in the way.

Thanks, know what you mean. I've a Buick 'project' that's been a shell for 3 years.
Yes it's a really nice coupe. 68,000 orig miles, Arizona car, so clean it still has smooth brown paint on the undersides. Also has the built in CB radio into the stero and the CB loading coil in the antenna. it still works after 30 years and I can talk to a buddy of mine who has a General Lee with a CB radio in it!
