1969 472 going in a 72 Nova

Remove this ad
Greetings,
I have 2 472 engines, 1 block is a 3268 from an 1969 Cadillac Eldorado the other block a 5200, don’t know what it came out of but it has a front sump oil pan, on both engine I have 76cc heads. Both stroke out at 4.060. so that means they are for sure 472’s
I am going to put one into the 1972 Chevy Nova. Wow! I will twist the body up like a pretzel. Hope not. Currently I have the front clip removed from the car. This way I can mock up the install easier.

My question is, has anyone else done an engine swap and if so what do I have to look forward to. I have some pictures if anyone is intrested, let me kinow.

The 5200 block is the better of the two.. they opened up the oil passages in 1970.. all 70 on blocks are 5200...you will need a eldorado oil pan, 1968 to 79 will fit.

Re: 1969 472 going in a 72 Nova

I got the oil pan, but need to relocate the oil filter. The A-arm cross member is in the way. I could make a cut out, but the HP this engine will make I don't want to take away from the frame, I should be adding support.

Any thoughts on the oil filter relocation?
