what air cleaner?

i searched to no avail. i want to run an open air filter on my 72 CDV, what are my options for clearing the compressor?

You need an offset center base plate, K&N make one, Moroso makes a complete offset kit with base plate, offset rod, top and I think the filter is included too. There are a bunch of generic brands too, you can get a cheapie off ebay. Originally they were made to clear HEI distributors on small block Chevy. Usually, the offset is 1.5" inches.

I just bought the K&N base plate last week-end, the part number is 85-3540. The only annoying thing is K&N don't include a rod that is offset to hold the air cleaner on - we made ours.

Or you could try adding a 1 inch spacer above the carb, I have one on mine and I run a 14 x 3 inch K&N cleaner and element, it works fine, clears the compressor and doesn't hit the hood metal

I know a guy that made a custom one with the caddy logo on top... It's for sale, but he wants lil change for it...
