Had an issue with the dipstick tube and replaced it with a new one. Unsure if it is the correct one. I never new how much oil this tank would hold from the beginning, si I just want to make sure I don't under or over fill it. Just need to know how much oil it holds. It has the stock oil pan on it.
Thanks. |

A stock -76 500 RWD holds 5 US quarters if the filter is changed and 4 us quarters if no filter changed. I guess your engine is dry after the rebuild and would need 5 quarters.

According to the 1976 owners manual page 80, (where I got the numbers for the RWD cadillacs with 500 engines) is the engine oil capacities for the Eldorado- 5 u.s. Qts without filterchange and 6 u.s Qts with filterchange.

Over the road gasoline motor oil has had the additives that are nessasary for a flat tappet cam taken out..The additive is not good for sensors and maybe cat. Best to use a racing oil such as VR1 valvoline racing oil..NAPA has it... | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
