    1992 305 Poor Start.

I replaced the intake manifold gasket because it was leaking coolant. When I got everything put back together, the engine just barely starts. It runs at about 300 RPM, and won't increase RPM. After about 30 seconds it stops. It has a bad odor.

I have checked and rechecked everything several times, but I can't find anything wrong.

    Any ideas ? ?

    Problem solved !

Although I had very carefully marked the position of the rotor before removing the distributor, and I thought that I had installed it exactly as it had come out, it had somehow ended up off by one tooth on the drive gear. I found this out with the use of a timing light and having my wife man the controls to turn the engine over.

I R & R the distributor, reset the timing, and it is now running perfectly.
