i just had to take care of some minor details today but when I started driving it I notice it has a high/fast idle I'm pretty sure this is being caused by some type of vacuum leak etc.
What could be causing this?
I'm pretty sure all hoses are where they were originally I was also looking for a hose diagram in the FSM but I didn't find one in my 94 FSM does anyone know where i can find one?
when im going above 30 and i let go of the gas it keeps going faster and it settles at 45 mph but when i want to stop its a little tough too so I have been putting it in Neutral every time I stopped or else the car kept wanting to lurch forward.
and the funny thing is that when i step more than 1/4 down on the gas pedal it lacks power i mean completely lacks power its the same from 1/4 down to the floor.
i also had to replace the throttle body gasket and i didnt use silicone because the original didnt have any could this be the problem?
there doesnt sound like any vacumm leak its just that the idle is really high and I'm guessing a misrouted vacuum hose.
Also the manifold gasket kit didnt have an egr valve gasket so i just used some silicone which I've done before on other cars but could this be the culprit?
any help greatly appreciated
thanks
PS: NO more oil leaks =) just going to replace the oil filter adapter gaskets later this week for the hell of it. |

Check PCV and the Optispark vacuum lines. If you put a gauge on the hose that goes to the Opti that is in the air intake, it should pull down to around 15 psi over around 1 min.
The PCV, EGR, fuel pressure regulator and power brakes are about all that is left. Oh, and the vacuum to the climate control, if there is one anymore on a Cad.
Check them all, I can snap pictures of mine if you are still having problems and need a picture reference. |

if you can post a pic anytime I would greatly appreciate it I just cant bare the sound of the engine reving at those speeds when its idle sounds pretty bad.
It seems odd to me how i cant find a picture reference in the FSM.
Thanks for all your help. |

Btw i also noticed 2 of the injectors weren't seated all the way so i pushed them in a little and the idle went down slightly closer to normal its still a little high but not much now.
could this have caused too much air etc. to get in the engine causing the problem or wouldve fuel leaked out instead?
im thinking of taking off the fuel rail and reinstalling the fuel injectors. |

That will do it for sure. Spray some water on each suspect vacuum leak, the idle will change if there is a leak. Listen for hissing.
Just make sure you have them seated on the rails right, rails are fairly stiff and can be damaged by rough handling.
I have pictures of mine, I will post them on the net and post the link shortly. |

Were you able to get it figured out? I have some pictures still that I can post if you think they would help. Sorry, home plate still on, I'll take it off tomorrow if you need more picts. |

Please if you can post it I would really appreciate it
Thanks
I'm completely stumped as to what the problem is. |

I'm fiddling with the car on and moving the throttle by hand to see if i can hear a vacuum leak and spraying water isnt helping any then i notice that the throttle doesn't extend all the way back how it should then i notice the throttle cable isn't routed correctly its moved to the left of where it should have been and although it still worked it made the throttle stay applied slightly at all times and upon pressing the throttle it binded just enough to keep it at a high idle.
Now the car is functioning great and No more oil leaks
now all i have to do is replace the horribly bent up transmission lines . | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
