Re: 5.7 vortec

Std SBC Deck height, 9.2inches I think. It is still a Gen I SBC. Gen II was LT1/LT4/L99, and Gen III was LS1 and Gen IV is LS2.

You can bolt on any SBC head you want, as long as you have a corresponding intake for it. Vortec's had a 73 bolt angle on the intake to heads, older SBC's like the TPI (L98) or even the old ones back to 1955 had a 45ish degree (?) angle.

The Vortec heads out of the box out flow and have better velocity than any head Chevy has ever produced for the Gn I SBC. You can pick up a new set for <$500 ready to bolt on from any GM dealer, and Summit now.

Re: 5.7 vortec

Vortec heads are incredible, but bear in mind they do not have an exhaust gas crossover, and require a different intake. That said, hell of a head!
