Re: 93 FW engine problem

That pop is probably a backfire.

This could be a lot of things, some of which could be...

Dirty injectors, dirty/sticking throttle body plate, fuel delivery, mass airflow sensor, bad sparkplugs, fuel pressure regulator, even a dirty airfilter.

Are there any codes set (have them checked), service engine soon light on?

Is this the 5.0, 5.7 or LT1?

Re: 93 FW engine problem

Have the mechanic also diagnose the idle air control valve, and egr. These could also attribute to your problem.

Checking the codes, you can do it on your vehicle by yourself:
First step to initiate it is to

Turn ignition "ON."
Depress the "OFF" and "WARMER" buttons on the Climate Control Center (CCC) simultaneously and hold until the segment check appears on the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC).

Then follow this site to get the codes:

Re: 93 FW engine problem

Hook a timing light up to each plug.. Same thing was happening to my '93 ETC and it was a coil that went out.. 19.99 at AutoZone... It has gone out on me twice in 234000 miles... Same coil the #1/4 Yours may be different.. There are no codes that occur when you lose a plug.. Don't believe me try taking a plug wire off.. The first time diagnosing it was a pain because the spark was just enough to trigger the timing light to go off...

My 2 Cents..
