Akdj1055,

GM actually agreed to cover the cost, but I only had 600 miles on the car. In addition to only having 600 miles, the car was in the dealer repair shop twice in the first week due to the fact that the original battery had a bad cell, which took two visits to find. Also, the car was originally repaired by Loehman's Cadillac in Waterbury, CT, and when my wife picked the car up there was still glass in the cup holders and elsewhere that could easily be seen. In fact, my wife cut her hand when she attempted to adjust the seat, right in front of my dealers service manager. My dealer, Gold Coast Cadillac, in Oakhurst, NJ then attempted to clean the car again and twenty minutes later told my wife it was ready only for her to find glass again. After the third try and several expletives, Gold Coast removed all of the seats, inner shell etc and after several days deemed the car fully clean. For the record, we have found small piles of glass several times after dirving the car which we can only assume have come from either the seats or air ducts. My lawyer is taking over the situation.

Just for the record, GM's product allegation group originally treated me like a criminal until they finished their investigation after which they determined there was no external cause for the damage. They finally agreed to repair the car at their cost, but would not agree to replace the car with a new vehicle.

As far as the NHTSA, I actually received a call from them as they have opened an investigation, and they have asked for pictures and a record of the repair.

The entire experience of owning a Cadillac explains why GM debt is now rated junk. Their products as well as their service should be considered non investment grade as well.

I'll never buy another Cadillac and will certainly recommend to all not to do so.

Good Luck, and I obviously agree with you about the metiorite idiots. Trying to control a car on the highway at 55MPH with glass raining down and my 9 year old in the back seat telling me he was cut was not an easy task.
