There are several oil filter mounts for 68-78 engines, that move the exact position of the oil filter. However, I'm surprised the 72 Eldo engine setup has a problem. Getting a different filter mount might fix it if you have access to some. Or an oil filter relocating kit could be a fast fix. If it was just an interfering bracket, I would look at modifying it, but not any moving parts. Some later oil filters are smaller, would that help? Is the car right hand drive?
