Leesburg, VA ------- head east toward Point of Rocks or White's Ferry. Look for the historical marker "Battle of Ball's Bluff". An October cannon fight on the banks of the Potomac River. Lots of North and South dead, and weren't buried until spring.........in a pit at the small cemetery there. One of my great uncles (Lt. Reuben H. Cleary, Army of Northern Virginia under R.E. Lee) died there, but the body was identified and sent home to Frederick, MD. The local farmers covered rotting bodies with lime and scooped up what was left after the spring thaw. Many soldiers from Leesburg............
