    17" or 18" Ride Quality

I am picking up a new CTS on Tuesday and I can get either a car with the std. 17" tires or one with the optional 18" tires with the MRC package. To be clear the MRC package in only on the 18" tires. I am concerned about ride quality. Comfort not performance. The question is this. Which will give me the better, i.e. smoother, ride? I drove the 17" car for a day and really liked it, but I thought that with the MRC it would be ever better. Any quick help will be appreciated.

Mine has the 17 inch wheels with the 45 profile tire. The 18 inch wheels wear lower 40 profile tires so the ride is probably stiffer but they do look better. Not sure if/how MRC affects the ride quality.

It will probably ride okay with the 18s and the Mrc will make it ride better.

Re: 17" or 18" Ride Quality

Go MRC every time, i did exactly what the OP is asking when i upgraded from my first ATS with 17" wheels to my current ATS Premium with 18s and i can tell you from first hand experience the ride is better, the first cars setup splits the difference, between my current cars two ride modes...so touring mode is softer than the last car even with the shorter profile tires and sport mode is stiffer, best of both worlds....MRC is better if you have bad roads in you area, because it sucks up bumps better too, and overall drive is nicer because MRC controls the cars body more (less nose dive, acceleration squatting, and turns flatter)
