How hard is it to remove? I want to paint it, but on the underside of the trunk lid there are about 7 plastic buttons to remove. Do I just break them off and replace them or do they pop off and on?
Those of you that have done this, I would appreciate giveing me a plan before I go and break something that didn't need to be broken. Cecil..........
On my sedan cecil you pull the black pins out, pull the two screws out of the handle, and remove the rubber stop pieces. This allows the carpet to come out and then you can see the screws that hold it together.
Then you remove the tag lights and should see a screw or two. I think there was 2 here.
It's not hard at all, just takes a few minutes. As far as the plastic ties I always order mine from autofastner.com, they end up being about 30 cents each instead of 12 dollars like the caddy dealer. I try and replace all the "christmas tree" style since they never work as good when you pull em out. I'll try and see if I have any pics from when I did mine.
I just did it today on a coupe. Wasn't hard just follow what was said in the earlier post. If your careful with the push pins when removing you can reuse them. I did.
There is the 2 inside the tag lights. You have to pop them out to see them. There are 4 inside the trunk which you can see once you have removed the trunk carpet.
Sorrry, I wasn't paying attention to my own thread. Yes, it wasn't that bad. I'm not sure what your stuck on, but there are 4 screws on the back side of the plate. Two of those are hard
to see unless you almost crawl into the trunk. There are also two from the outside that you will see when you get the light lens off. If you really can't get it done, I think you can paint it without
taking it off. Just do a real good tape job and mask on the outside and it can be done. No one will know but you. Cecil................
Thanks guys. Not interested in painting anything, I want to add a factory rearview camera. The 2011+ models have a camera, but they are about a 1/2" taller, about 1-3/4" compared to about 2-1/4".
