I know...been on these boards forever. Lots of fast guys don't post, but the guy in Memphis has heads, lol.
Street racers dont post. Lol
Richmond Dragway elevation; 74feet A-Stock 1756 miles :lildevil:
my race-car driver excuses;
only 2nd 1/4 event (did 1 1/8th last year)
probally < 20 runs in my life
Did not warm-up the PS2's, just was having fun, TC ON.
first run in the V.
called it a night when I tried to ease out of the lane instead of mashing it. Trans didn't shift well, after two 13s in a row, decided to call it a night.
best of 6 runs.
by FAR richmond is not a professional track, the lanes are not straight, there are bumps and it's generally very redneckish.-
When in Rome.....................
When in Rome they do as he does.
I was up in Brainerd, Minnesota, on vacation and they had a Wednesday Night Drag event so I decided to try out the car. And, yes, we were in the middle of a heat wave with a heat index of almost 110 degrees, low pressure, and the sun beating down on the track making it greasy for those of us with street tires (I had new Conti Extreme DW's with 150 miles), but, I needed to practice. The whole automatic thing was new to me. The DA was about 4600 to 5000 feet while I was making my runs so a little less than optimal.
Best run, 12.8 @ 112 MPH with a 2.0 60 foot. Almost everyone was off about half a second from normal, so it was a decent time. Next time, I am hoping for some decent weather so the DA is a little more normal at around 700 feet or so. There was a Panamera Turbo there running low 12's but I never got a chance to line up against him but he indicated that his was running slow, as well, since he had done 11.6 on cooler days. All in all, a good jump into feeling out what the car can do.
Your a better man than me. At least your out there. The practise launching will come in handy when the weather gets better.
I just got back from the track. It was a bit better today with a 3000 foot DA. Not great, but better. I think that the MT tires will help wake up the results. I was hoping to have them before today, but, they arrive tomorrow. Looking forward to the next trip back on 8/31/2011.
Brainerd International Raceway - 8/3/2011 - 7:59 PM
DA - 3019 feet
No, not yet, purely stock. Wanted to baseline before I played with it.
Last Friday I ran the offical 1320 for the first time - ever.
I got 5 runs in, and my first run of the night was my best:
60' - 2.188
1320' - 13.02 @ 110.74
Density alititude 4990'.
(Worst run, lost to a girl in a STOCK Camaro SS. Was easily ahead of her right from the launch, but for some reason my car never shifted out of 2nd and bounced of the limiter for a good second or so. By the time I extracted my head from my @$$ and reacted, I pushed the stick ahead twice, and the car went into 4th. By then, she was in front of me and I eased off on the gas a bit. I ran a 15.080 @ 99 to her 14.739 @ 102.07. :banghead: n00b!) I must have somehow put it in manual mode?
2009 sedan, auto, only mod is Airaid CAI. Stock tire pressure. I went from idle, with TC on for maybe 1 second, then killed it.
If the weather is good, I'm gonna go back tomorrow. Got about 1/4 tank of 94 octane now, and may drop the tire pressure a bit. The girl in the Camaro was pretty cool and said she used to own a V1, so she knew something was amiss. Regardless, she said she was gonna tell all her friends she beat a V. Can't take that away from her, technically she DID beat a V. Time for some payback!
I know the feeling. I did the very same thing racing my buddies IS-F. I must have bumped one of the paddles or the shifter and had it bump on the rev limiter in 2nd. I caught it once I heard it but not before my results was hampered to a 14.2 second run :)
SilveRT8, thanks...I was thinking that corrected it might be somewhere in the stock quarter mile range. I can live with that...its just that seeing a "13" on the time slip seems somewhat depressing....need to get a 12...!
