    2011 CTS V Headlight Crack?

I was detailing my car and noticed a crack in the driver headlight. The crack came from out behind the bumper. As i look at it more I was thinking how could a rock hit behind the bumper and not have scratched the bumper? So I looked at the passenger headlight and noticed that there seems to be some kind of rivet that holds the light together. To me it looks like a defect in the light that caused the rivet to break lose and make the light crack.. I have not taken it to the dealership yet. Kinda what to get other v owners opinion as to what you think could of happen and do you think the it will be covered under warranty.

I have attached a link to my drop box. They are too large to upload to the site.

I uploaded a pic of the passenger light to show you what the driver side is supposed to look like before it was broken!!

If your dealer is standup, then they should have no trouble ordering you a new one. What do you have to lose? I don't see an impact on the light housing itself.

    Hello japple1985,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this crack in your driver’s side headlight. If it is considered to be a defect then it should be covered under your warranty. I see you are looking for other member’s opinions before you take your vehicle to the dealership, but if you would like any assistance working with the dealership to see if this would be covered under your warranty, I would be glad to help. I do agree with RGaret that you have nothing to lose by taking your vehicle to the dealership to see what they say. Please keep us updated when you take your vehicle to the dealership as to the result as well. If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to send us a private message. Thank you very much for your time.

They should warranty it if it's a defect. Now...how much of fight will you have to put up? That remains to be seen.

This is for sure a warranty issue. Fight them for it.

So..... they replaced the headlight under warranty... The dealership said that the bubble that I was calling a plastic rivet was actually a bolt hole coming from the back of the light... It must have been over tighten from factory... or a defect... either way... GM bit off a $1,300 headlight and i am sooooooo glad...
