The LSx V-8's are incredibly compact, relatively simple, efficient and powerful for their size. I'll say it again, basic 4-valve per cylinder technology dates back to the early 20th century. The real technological advances are in the recent push rod V-8's. Also, I thought I read that the real world difference in mpg between the Ford Ecoboost V-6 and the V-8 it replaced is only 1 mpg. I think this is all marketing hype by Ford to sell more vehicles.
