QuestionIf this color were available on your V, would you have chosen it?

    Blue Chip:

I had an '03 CTS company car in that color--what a great, deep, classy, blue. Apparently it was only available on the 2nd-gen CTS for a very short period of time after launch. A pity, IMO ('specially for the reason I heard it was pulled). Would've been my first choice for sure.

It's a good color but I prefer the Opulent blue myself.

They look pretty close in that pic but we know how that changes in real life. I like it either way.

I think I would have rather stuck with opulent blue. I have a (very) dark blue color on the Avant. It strikes me as utilitarian.

If I had a chance to do-over, I would have gone for a stealth blue. Maybe Blue-diamond tricoat.

I like my blues dark but intense. Based on Google Image results, Blue Chip looks like a good shade, a little brighter than your usual Porsche "is it black?" dark blue... but it seems a bit flat, at least in photos. Apparently it was a carryover color from the first-gen CTS, as I found several 06 and 07 images.

Most flattering photo of the color I found in a brief search:

Had Corvette's Night Race Blue been on the CTS-V, I might have gone for it. It does the "is it black" thing with more sparkle than Porsche, though it's a little undersaturated.

Navy Blue Metallic (from 99-01 Corvettes, actually pearlescent not metallic) is my favorite blue. Hints of purple in oblique light. If the V had that color I'd have been all over it. If I ever get a repaint, that will be my starting point.

Blue is my favorite color, but on this car, I prefer darker blues that still have good flop to go with her aggresive, angular styling. I mulled over Blue Diamond a bit until I saw it up close on another model; the shade plus the gold flecks just put me off. If Opulent Blue were also available at first release, I probably would've picked it.

Indeed, it was a carryover from the first-gen CTS. I drove an '03 for two years and I thought the paint had plenty of flop--looked great on a full sunlit day as you walked around it (and could look past the first-gen's, um, peculiarities).

I haven't seen it in-person, but it looks stunning in the photos I've seen.

Sounds/looks interesting; the Corvette looks great in a lot of interesting colors and multi-layer treatments. Great fodder for the imagination if we want to keep a re-paint "in the family."

Opulent Blue rules...if I couldn't get my hands on my Black Diamond I would have gone with the Opulent Blue, hands down. I have seen the Blue Diamond in person on the XTS and I LOVED it, but I have never seen nor heard of it on the CTS's - any model.

BDT was only avaliable for one model year if I remember right.

My sister has a BDT 09, beautiful color. Wish they still had the Black Sapphire/Blue Chip color available. I had two STS's that color. Loved it.

BDT=yuck. OBM is much better. I could have gone with the Blue Chip as well.

I guess I was mistaken b/c that's not the color...this was the color. It almost looks black, but not in the sunlight it's beautiful...multiple colors and specks of flake.

Is that an ATS or '14 CTS? (haven't developed my ATS vs. '14 CTS spotting skillz yet) I believe that color is also available on the Escalade of all things... Looked nice on the color chip at the dealer...

    Neither. It's an XTS.
