Lingenfelter 700 - CAR STALLS WHEN STOPPING, BACKFIRES, LOSS OF POWER AT WOT

I have a 2013 CTSV - when new I had Next Level Performance in Orlando install Lingenfelter 650 upgrade, after driving it for a couple month it started dying at full throttle at about 120 mph intermittently. The problem continued to get worse until it would happen at lower speeds and right off the line at full throttle. My tuner originally thought it was bad gas as there was detonation and it was dropping timing, he would retune and it would get better and then start the same routine again. Next, I blew my engine! We rebuilt the engine and installed Lingenfelter Heads, Forged Pistons and Rods, GT9 Cams, New Fuel Injectors, O2 sensors, Knock Sensors as we thought the sensors may be the problem. $15,000.00 later I have a new badass engine, that's doing the same thing it was before. I called my tuner and he says bad gas. I know its not bad gas! So now my car is doing the same thing, and in addition, its stalling when I come to a stop not even safe to drive. A couple days ago I went to go somewhere and the battery was completely dead. I jumped it and drove around , there was a check engine light, when I turned the car off and tried to restart, it restarted and no check engine light. Cadillac has voided my warranty and hardly can help. I'm thinking my problem has to be something electrical, maybe coil packs, or a loose ground from when I had my escort laser jammers and radar detectors installed. PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN, THANK YOU.

Did you check your alternator and charging system?? Slowly dying and then having a dead battery usually means something messed up in the charging system. So the battery has to run the whole car, and with no charging it cant keep up.

The problem is intermittent, I just got my car back from Cadillac as they agreed to look at the charging system for me, they of course are saying the battery is good and they don't see anything but don't have the personnel to check out a car with the changes I have made.
I have now started driving with the battery voltage indicator gauge on so I can see what happens when the car goes into CRAP mode, this morning it ran perfect, no stalls, plus I did a solid run to 150 mph and it was smooth, the whole time my battery voltage reading was 14.4 - 14.7 volts. I will have to drive it pretty hard to get the problem to happen again while I monitor the battery voltage, I already know the stall happens when the battery voltage drops below 14.
I will have someone check all the wiring at the alternator, I am hoping its the alternator or a loose wire causing the intermittent problem.

Mine to this day takes 5-7 seconds for the alternator to kick in as evidenced by the slow wipers and lights. The longest I've ever seen for an alternator to "light". DCV's theory makes a lot of sense to me too.

Could be a ground problem too. I suppose you can have the alternator taken out of the car and bench tested. Intermittent seems like a somewhat bad regulator or loose ground. If you ever had an Italian motorcycle, you will know the pains those beauties put you through with problems like you describe.

It is a tuning problem.. Just take it to a different tuner.

When I was at Cadillac, they first said their scan tool wouldn't work on my car due to upgrades. I knew this to be false because they used it before, the service manager came out as they were pushing me out the door to see if he could get a code, he did, P069E Fuel Pump Control Module Request Malfunction. Then he cleared the code.
Today I researched this code and found another post explaining this code and the fact that to further investigate it you need a tech 2 scan tool to go into the FPCM menu and theres an abundance of info there. Is all this information regarding what caused this code gone now since he cleared the code? Can this code happen without a check engine light?
I did go to Advance Auto today to have them do the generic test on my battery and alternator and they show as good.

    ----------

I already went to a different tuner in Tampa, I'm in Orlando, it runs better now, but the problem is still there.

A good tuning shop can figure it out. Cheap insurance to have it looked at by another "reputable" tuner. Could be Tune or related to the fueling... Logging should assist in the discovery

Okay, since the retune, I only had the problem with extreme power loss at WOT the first day after the tune from the new guy, I have not had the problem since, and I've been giving it hell trying to show a fellow car enthusiast the problem. It's running better than it ever has right now. this makes no sense. Maybe the new tune cleared the problem?? I'll run it hard for another couple weeks before I breathe easy on that one, then I can spend some money on better cold air and a heat exchanger upgrade. Thanks for your input..I hope its over.

That's good news. Are you still experiencing power loss at WOT?

You have checked fuel filter, pump and pickup in tank right? That's seems to match the symptoms

"wait4me" called it. Said it was a tuning problem and from your update seems it was.

Re: Lingenfelter 700 - CAR STALLS WHEN STOPPING, BACKFIRES, LOSS OF POWER AT WOT

Car is still Intermittently STALLING when I come to a stop, it did it 4 times last night on a short trip to CVS. I ran it hard again on the turnpike to work today, all is still good at WOT. I'm really happy with the new tune, as much as I've been thru with this, I still think the problem will come again for some reason. I believe the stalling and the dying at WOT must be related and a fuel issue.

I'm scheduling to drop it off a week from Monday at the new Tuners for him to keep the car for a week. He will hopefully find a problem, while he has the car, he is installing a Norcal Box on the Heat Exchanger, an new Dyno Speed Racing Cold Air Intake, Induction and Heat Exchanger Block off Plates, and most likely a ported blower & Snout. I'm being extremely optimistic.

    ----------

He believes also the problem is a fuel delivery problem.
