Lower 9.5 inch pulley and injectors.

I have been researching my mods for when I get ready to pull the trigger. I plan to start off with Air Raid CAI, lower pulley with 9.5 inch ring and tune.

Most information I have read says that a 9.5 inch pulley lower and CAI would make around 13.5-14psi and be fine on stock injectors. Although that being said that that is the limit before injectors are a must.

Another performance shop/tuner I talked to who I trust and have known for over 15 years told me that he has a 8.6 inch lower pulley , CAI and tune and makes 547 to the tires on a ZL1 but that thats all its got on stock injectors he said. He said at 9.5 inch injectors would be at 100 percent and no room for CAT overtemp feature when it calls for extra fueling there would be none. He said anything over 8.6 lower( 10% overdrive) would require injectors. OF course this is all with stock upper pulley.

What is what hear. My head is spinning. 90 percent says 9.5 inch pulley, CAI and tune are fine on stock injectors

10% say they are not. Any feed back guys? I dont wanna blow her up

Re: Lower 9.5 inch pulley and injectors.

When we setup our customer cars we typically like to air on the side of caution and not max out the OEM injectors. As a general rule of thumb we typically replace the OEM injectors when running a 9.5" dia pulley. There are many different opinions out there for this and some people are fine running their injectors at 90%+ on the duty cycle.

I see. What would you recommend as the max size pulley size to go with stock injectors when just doing the lower and leaving the top stock?

Re: Lower 9.5 inch pulley and injectors.

We would recommend a 9" lower w/OEM upper on OEM injectors. Since there are multiple combinations available we can just say anything north of 13 PSI total should have upgraded injectors.

Re: Lower 9.5 inch pulley and injectors.

Im running Airaid CAI 9.5 lower and kooks headers off rode pipes and corsa sport exhaust. Making 575 at the wheels, doing injectors next and probably upper pulley, maybe Brian Tooley Cam stage 3.

Anyone with some insight, I've got a 90mm ported LS2 throttle body, with my tune as it is do you think I can just put it on or need a retune?

Re: Lower 9.5 inch pulley and injectors.

    Hello,
If I understand this correctly you will be adding a upper pulley, injectors, and possibly a cam. Your asking if you can just install it and if it will be okay? If that is the case, then the answer would be NO. You will certainly need a retune. The injectors will not be calibrated and it will be running really rich until it will be tuned. Better safe than sorry because you dont want to wash the cylinders.

    Thank you,

So if I understand it right. You are running 9.5 inch lower, headers and exhaust but on STOCK injectors. IS this correct?
