How do you launch your V in a drag race?

Just purchased my first V and am playing around with the launch. I'm interested in how others are doing it.

What rpm, feather or hold the revs, traction control/Stabilitrack/sport Mode/Tour Mode, are you running stock tires, what's your HP,MT or AT?

Feather the throttle. I find launching without traction control with practiced throttle control works well. If you have one don't feather the clutch.

Leave all the controls on, and hammer it. I got my best time so far.

I don't have a CTS-V, I have a STS-V I'm assuming the systems function similarly. Our traction control is very intrusive how do you get your best times with traction control on?

I have a CTS-V wagon and don't find traction or stability control intrusive at all. When I get on it with everything on, I still get tire squeal but it pretty seemlessly modulates it for maximum acceleration. My Nissan 370Z I got rid of would fall on its face like hitting a rev limiter if traction control was left on. It was painful.

I have a 2013 CTS V Auto and launch with all controls on and in sport mode. Still also get some moderate wheel spin with full throttle; great results.

Nice, sounds like the AT is pretty straight forward. For the MT, what rpm level do folks launch at?

MT launches at 2000 rpm anything more will spin the tires like crazy, like it does in my car.

i found my best launches were at 2000rpm, drop the clutch and make sure to feed the power in. with systems all off . if you dont feed into the first gear or 2 in my case, it'll just spin em

Re: How do you launch your V in a drag race?

You can launch very well with the traction control completely on; however, if you mess up, and lose a bunch of traction, it will just kill the car. Idealy, even with traction control on, if you launch correctly it should never engauge. I prefer to have it partially off, because I feel like I have more control over the car if I mess up as opposed to having the car automatically kill the throttle, and do all the other stuff that makes it seem as if you just killed the car.

Among the CTS-V owners there appears to be different experiences...? Some owners experience wheel spin with TC on and others don't?

My V allows no wheel spin with TC on.
