Is anyone running a 91-92mm LS7 Throttle Body?

I have read several threads about people trying the LS7 TB from a ZO6 Vette or other vehicles with mixed reviews.

I thought that the LS7 TB was interchangeable with our 86mm stock TB. The reports are that the 102mm TB is too big for most engines but the LS7 is just about right increasing throttle response.

Others have written that the throttle blade goes the wrong way and will not work but I have seen W4ME use them w/o problems.

For about $130 Ebay special, its a cheap upgrade and better than porting a stock TB.

    What are your thoughts?

I've got a ported LS7 on mine... no problems, better throttle response.

I'm a fan of the LS7 TB & believe there is minimal risk in going to it (it's a GM part afterall). This TB works fine on LSAs. I believe the TB that you are referring to (blade opens backwards) is the LS2 TB.

The main issues I've experienced/read about are related to when people go to a 102 T/B, either NW or TPIS. I do NOT believe that the 102 is too big for "most engines" at all. They can work fine on a ~380" motor just fine, you just need to support it with the proper mods. When working well, they can really help in generating more hp, but I would also say that you probably want to have a very serious rwhp goal in order to justify going with it (i.e. >700rwhp), for the LS7 can support anything below that fairly easily.

I had better results and driveability from porting the stock TB. Mine was done by a guy named Tony Mamo at AFR. I highly recommend him. Google search Tony Mamo Porting. I have done both and know what I am talking about on this. stick with the stock TB but have it ported by a pro.

So look into AFR for him to do the work? I found a lot of testimonials for him, but no contact info.

I did go with the larger 91mm TB and it seems to be working just fine in all respects. For $130, its a must do modification.

I second that the throttle response change alone is worth the $$$

With the bigger one, or porting the stocker? I'm guessing the port work will cost somewhat more too, right?

I bought a ported and polished LS7 for like 145$ off eBay.

When going to a larger throttle body is tuning required, recommended, or not required?
