    NewEra Hot Air Intake

Now that summer temps are starting to creep over 80, I figured I'd start keeping a close eye on temps. Here are some logs and video after some stop and go traffic and some 50mph+ cruising. Looks as if the metal tube is getting heat soaked, which is also causing heat soak of the MAF sensor (as noted by the high IAT1's).

I'm going to try wrapping the tube with some reflective HVAC tape before considering going over to a plastic unit.

Its a metal tube, it will get hot and you can't do much about it regardless of where it actually ingests the air from.

Get an Airaid.. It has a composite plastic tube that dissipates the heat better than a metal tube.

    That's nice, ExpatMedic.
Never seen anything like that before.
Will that monitor motor performance without iphone/ipod/ipad?

Nope, it uses an iOS device as the interface. It's a bluetooth cable that plugs into the OBDII port and then beams the info via bluetooth to your iOS device.

Similar products would be Torque for Android or DashCommand for iOS. Both Torque and DashCommand use PLX KIWI wifi/bluetooth devices or cheap generic devices while DashBoss uses a proprietary cable. I find DashBoss to be better than DashCommand, however.

The reason I ask is I use a Trinity. And it doesnt have as nice of a display and can only display four guages at a time without changing pages. But I can tune just about any parameter.

Yea, this is for monitoring purposes only. I use HPTuners separately for tuning.

Well, you can clear trouble codes. It'd be neat to see them add more functions to interact with the vehicle, but since it's designed to work over many platforms, I'd imagine that would be a daunting task - nevermind the cost associated with it.

I thought it would be beyound my capabilities but the more I get into it the more simple it becomes. I've been able to make my own custom pages to display the four gages I like to see the most. Air intake1, intake2, MAF, boost psi. You can also install custom tunes.

Helps to have on the fly at the track.

Yea, this is essentially the same thing then. If you're able to monitor everything you want/need with the Trinity, then this would be a bit redundant.

I'd assume that the only advantage of this would be the ease of use, wireless hookup, and integrated to your internet phone to email datalogs, etc.
