For those with 2.3 ZR1 superchargers, Is it worth the $2000 over the 1.9 supercharger

Because of another post, I discovered that the base 2.3 supercharger for a ZR1 vette only costs @ $2000 and many of the 1.9 blower parts can be carried over and used making it a modest upgrade.

I am already doing the heads, cam porting and pulley upgrade and am now considering the bigger blower. I didn't want to spend another $7000 + for a 2.9 but an 2.3 might be do-able.

For those who have made the upgrade:
    1) Would you recomend it, ie: pros and cons
    2) Were ther any major complications
    3) What is a realistic cost for the upgrade?

    Thanks guys

interesting. now i want to know as well. Not just for the performance aspect but also for the look! The ZR1 SC is sexy to look at.The stock SC on the V looks like a bbq cover!

Here is the ZR1 as reference

    NAX-121 and NAX-121 like this.

What exactly are your goals? I'm a big fan of the 2300 blower (granted, I'm running a Magna Charger 2300) on our engines.

G-Force in Texas has fixed the previous issues with 2300 fitting/operating on the 1.9.

Personally, I have a ported 1.9/matching snout/ported and matched 90mm stock TB w/ D3 spacer. The increase in flow and throttle response was well worth the effort in my honest opinion. You really just have to look at yourself in the mirror and determine what your LONG term goals are.

In short, unless you are planning well over 700+RWHP, you dont need a the 2300

I want 800 crank hp daily driver hopefully w/o going past 16.5lbs of boost. It seems like a bigger blower would certainly help the cause.

yup, for that goal and boost limit a bigger SC (prolly a 2.3 wont do it either) or Nitorus is required. Oh wait you said crank HP. You can do that with stock 1.9SC.

Awesome car! Are you still running stock internals? What do your heads flow after porting? What cam did you go with?

Stock bottom end and stock trans. Heads are WCCH stage 2, I don't know flow numbers off the top of my head but I think you can find them on their website. They do good work and are proven. My cam is 226/234 120 spec'd by DynoSpeed Racing who built the car. The cool part about it is that the cam is relatively small and I only have a 2.5/8.6 pulley combo running on 93 octane pump gas.

The true key to this build is the Post SC methanol lid spacer that Guard Dog has come up with...
(Shamless Plug for the truth Dog)
Guard dog and Guard dog like this.
