    Pilot Super Sport alternate sizes

Anyone tried running the new Michelin Pilot Super Sport in alternate sizes (since they continue to NOT make it in our OEM size)? I know normally we all try to go the next size up, but I was noticing that they make a 245/40 - 275/35 combo that would work on the OEM wheels, is 1% smaller on the tire calculator, but damn affordable for what I keep hearing is a fantastic tire. Certainly would not be any clearance issues. There is also the 255/35 - 295/30 combo as well which if I had the Coupe rear wheels would be perfect, but I don't (Vagon instead), so I am not sure if that would overtire the rear wheel.

Just curious if anyone has any feedback on the Super Sports in smaller/larger sizes. I was close to pulling the trigger on either a set of Continental Extreme Contact DW or Proxes 1 tires in the stock sizes, when I saw the price on the Super Sports was comparable, albeit in different sizes.

I ran Yokohama Neova AD08 in 255/40/19 and 275/35/19 with no problems at all. They actually hook a lot better wet and dry than my current Michelin PS A/S Plus in the OEM sizes.

thanks. I didn't find that thread when I was searching, but I do remember reading it. Unfortunately, I am not so optimistic on when the SS's might be available in our size. Next "year" is a long time and Michelin isn't always the greatest at being real accurate on those kind of projections. I've had spring turn to summer then fall and winter before the supersport version of the motorcycle tire was available in the size I needed. I am afraid by the time it's ready for the V, I will have bald racing slicks for tires.

Re: Pilot Super Sport alternate sizes

I just mounted a set on my V1 (245/45/18) and ran NJMP with them.
Ran great, great grip, good feedback and good wear. Very happy with them. I think they may be better than my old Pilot Sport PS2's...

I'm interested in those that tracked the bigger sizes. With running higher pressures, will it make the tread round out too much reducing the contact patch?

Michelin guy at the V Labs really sold me on them. He said not only were they better all around, but even the wear was better. Figured give it a shot.
Picked mine up from TireRack cheaper than PS2's plus I got $70 rebate.

Re: Pilot Super Sport alternate sizes

Went to pull the trigger on some 265/35/19 PSS for the front but Tire Rack is showing them out of stock until 12/9. I called Discount Tire who called Michelin who said they didnt even have a date for the next production run. Would anyone be concerned running the 275/35/19s up front? Anyone running this size up front? Any rubbing?
    Thanks

Yeah, I couldn't believe that but they seemed to have held up very well @ NJMP, which is normally hard on the left front. We'll see how it holds up again next week
