Re: Review - Stainless Works Cat Back System

Why Stainless Works chose different designs for the internal components of their mufflers is something that I am not qualified to comment on. My current understanding is that the cat back system uses a straight pass through 2 1/2 inch core design and the full system with headers uses a multi-pass 2 1/2 inch core design. However, I do not think that this difference is what is causing the aberrant acoustics in my vehicle. At this point I think the mufflers on my vehicle may be neither of these because of a mix up in manufacturing, however, this is just conjecture on our parts and we will have to wait for the autopsy results.

2 years later? Wow - might want to PM the original poster, if he even visits the forum at this point.

ETA also, the quality control issue seems to continue to plague SW based on other threads. Google for more.

Google Stainless works sucks and you'll find a good amount of issues with their system.

Re: Review - Stainless Works Cat Back System

Hi guys. Just come over to this forum from the other one to see what is going on. Still lots of chatter about the SW system. As of today, I am still running the Stainless Works headers and pipes. I totally ditched the muffs and welded the factory muffs back on along with a set of DMH cutouts. If I was going to do it again I would probably go with the Kooks headers, no cats, factory muffs and cutouts. With the slip joint and clamp design I was constantly having to re-adjust the system I finally took it in to a shop and had the straighten it out and weld it together. Also, the headers do stick down a little bit and you have to look out for speed bumps. Finally, with the 2 inch headers there might be a loss of back pressure that will decrease your HP numbers somewhat at builds under 650. I have a goo friend who is rocking 650 whp with a totally stock exhaust. Just food for thought. Cheers.

If I could do it all over again, I would also go with this set up, headers to factory mufflers and cutouts!

Sadly, my SW experience was no better. Their customer service was exceptional but the product did not perform as advertised AND needed to be tweaked by my muffler guy to make right.

The drone was BAD (my #1 priority to avoid being the car is a daily and I am on the phone constantly) and it was just flat loud.

In the end, I sold it and went with the Corsa sport. Exactly what I wanted. I had Corsa on my V1 CTS -V and loved every minute of it so my bad for not going with what I knew would work.

That's unfortunate. My SW Cat-Back system for my Wagon just arrived. I guess if it sucks I can always switch back to stock though it'll cost me another installation to get it replaced. What a waste of money but I hope I have better luck. Heard mixed things about the drone. Neuron says it's better than stock.
