Here's a pointer to Jesse Bubbs Dynojet run of a stock CTS-V vs his tune. http://www.dragtimes.com/2009-Cadill...phs-17324.html. Well worth doing IMO, you won't believe the change a tune makes. It's like a completely different car with 50 more HP at the motor. Cheapest mod you can make and the most bang for the buck.

If I read the graph correctly it is saying at about 4,000 RPM the motor is starting to flatten out and that would be where I would want to shift?

I'd shift it between 5800 and 6000 RPM, but as I said, just put it in drive and hammer it. It will shift at the best RPM.

Re: 1/4 Mile ET & Modifications List

    errr...7mpg at 70 mph???

I know a good tune helps. I used to crank the timing in my talon below 20% throttle between 2000 and 3000 rpm to get some mileage out of it...worked well.

What is he doing to gain so much mileage?

    Thanks

Re: 1/4 Mile ET & Modifications List

I suspect he is leaning it out a bit and increasing timing some. GM runs these LSA engines quite rich. I did see an increase in mileage with W4M tune, but also a completely different driving car under power. You will be amazed at the difference!

Re: 1/4 Mile ET & Modifications List

Please update the list by repacing my prior best run with the following run that I recorded at the 2013 CTS-V Shootout at PBIR with my pure stock 2011 A6 CTS-V sedan on Michelin PS2 tires.

    UserName: B T Williams
    DA (feet): 1612
    60 ft: 1.883
    1/8 ET: 7.816
    1/8 MPH: 93.17
    1/4 ET: 11.990
    1/4 MPH: 118.40
    Mods: A-Bone Stock

The time slip is below. (I had to rotate the picture to its side to get the upload to work. Sorry.) I'm Car # 3878. Thanks. Bruce

Congrats Rabbit, that's one super fast Caddy. Would you tell us what rim [width and diameter] and what tire/pressure you used on that run? It also sounds in the video that your launch was a two step, that is not full throttle immediatly, true?

Re: 1/4 Mile ET & Modifications List

I'm new to this forum. Ran the CTS V Coupe today at Famoso Drag Strip (Bakersfield, Ca). Car is a new 2012 (bought in Jan 2013, 17 miles). Car is stock, 6-speed manual, stock tires , about 3500 miles now. Made 5 passes today

    Run 1: 10:38 am, 68 degrees, DA 1507, 60' 2.142, 1/8th 8.188 @ 92.09, 1/4 Mile 12.415 @ 116.89.
    Run 2: 11:28 am, 69.1 degrees, DA 1599, 60' 2.059, 1/8th 8.135 @ 91.22, 1/4 Mile 12.379 @ 116.47.
    Run 3: 12:30 pm, 73 degrees, DA 1870, 60' 2.169, 1/8th 8.211 @ 92.21, 1/4 Mile 12.420 @ 117.16.
    Run 4: 2:25 pm, 78.1 degrees, DA 2241, 60' 2.044, 1/8th 8.132 @ 91.38, 1/4 Mile 12.386 @ 116.16. (getting warmer)
    Run 5: 2:46 pm, 78.1 degrees, DA 2241, 60' 2.034, 1/8th 8.170 @ 90.83, 1/4 Mile 12.439 @ 115.60. ( a little heatsoak, hot lap, they were about to close down the lanes.)

So best ET 12.379, best mph 117.16.

Re: 1/4 Mile ET & Modifications List

Trainman, Not sure Famoso has the best starting line prep, but to help that ET a bit you can fit 19 by 11 inch [50mm offset] wheels on your Coupe. Nitto 345 or MT 305 fit nicely and should put you in the 11's with ease. Warm those tires up well and you'll see at least 1.65 60 foot times. Or, try the new Weld 17 inchers designed to clear your rear brakes and mount up some M&H 325 45 17 and lower the air pressure and cut a 1.5 60 foot time. Fun stuff these Caddies. Welcome aboard!
