    New Price Info

A friend of mine in the media was at the NAIAS show yesterday. Media only day Monday and Tuesday. The show opens to the public this weekend. Now know that he's not a car guy, but knows that I am and that I am interested in the new generation V. He says that he looked at the plackard alongside the new V and said the bottom line price was listed at $72,000. This info can easily be verified for it's accuracy this weekend when the show opens to the public. I won't be attending, but I am sure someone from the area on this board will be.

not questioning it, but i find hard to believe if that was the case none of the media outlets picked up on that, at $72k it puts it dangerously close to the STS-V.

I know. I agree. That's why I quized him about what he was telling me. He insisted that's what he saw. Someone will be able to validate the info this weekend.

    Re: New Price Info

That price might make sense on the show car, as I would suspect it would be fully optioned. Auto, paddle shifter, sunroof, Recaro seats. But that's of course guessing. Like you say we'll know by this weekend when it opens to the public and some here get a look.

The STS-V may go away in 09/10 and this car would step in for both as it now has an auto, although not quite as much room.

Out of curiosity, where is it stated (officially) that the Recaros are not standard but indeed an option?

I doubt they (GM) would make seats an option. Hopefully the Recaros are standard.

Damn. That's expensive. But the car is worth it.. Crap. I'm not going to have it any time soon.

Here's a GM rep at SEMA showing a Sport CTS and mentions recaro seats as an available option on the V. (about 1 min into the video.) Now whether that's what one would call "official" ?

If that's true, then I think they're pushing the limits of what most people will pay. As great of a car as it is, a $20k markup over the current model is a bit steep.

    Re: New Price Info

I wonder if GM has raised the bar on the V to move it up a notch into the euro lux sport sedan bracket while at the same time elevated the regular CTS with over 300HP and all wheel drive to fill the gap. Seems like the old V is somewhere inbetween. I could see where a fully loaeded V6 CTS 4 with all the bells and whistles could appeal to someone in the old V1 market. Rest assured though, CTS and CTSV markets will soar.
