When the key-switch broke on my `77 LTD, I wired the solenoid to the horn. Does that count?

The '08 loaner that I just had did a sweep of the gauges along with a "glow" as part of the start up sequence.

I agree with CIWS. Once you have the keyless fob, you never want anything else. The best feature to me is the automatic locking, close the door and walk away.

I love the keyless entry in my STS.. Never need to even touch the FOB.. Lift the door handle with the fob in your pocket and the doors automatically unlock.. Same for the trunk. Its more than just not needing a key to start it. Its a cool feature and should atleast be an option on all newer cars.

a guy I know with an Altima was driving with his dad one day. he dropped his dad off somewhere (who had the fob) and went somewhere else. when he got where he was going he shut off the engine, got out and realized he didnt have the fob, and was stranded.

try that with a traditional key.

And as for the push button, I think I'm with Big Jim. My father-in-law has one on his Lexus and I usually drive it once a week. I really don't like it. And if you REALLY want to get an ear-full, ask a carwash owner how much he likes them.

I have never done that but I have locked the keys in my car several times. A few months ago I a garbage truck came over to my side of the road and hit me, I stopped and got out with the engine running and shut the door... yep, it was locked. So thete I was in the number two lane with my Corvette running and the doors locked. Took AAA 45 minutes to get there.

I have driven C6's at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch and I love the pushbutton start.

Overall I really like the new CTS-V..

None of my recent cars would let me lock the doors with the key in the ignition.

My doors locked simply when I walk away from the car with the FOB in my pocket. If I leave it in the car they don't lock and the horn honks 3 times to let me know I've done that. Try that with a key system.

Re: One little thing that bugs me... no push button start!

You guys really don't want a pushbutton start, it is a pain if you ask me.
I mean it is okay and neat and all, but the new CTS ('08) setup is good with the remote in your pocket and a rotating switch in the column. The base models require a key as they have a standard lock cylinder.
The keyless system with the rotating switch is the best setup GM has if you ask me.

Oh and they did change the "off" settings for the pushbutton start. It used to be instantaneous, but for '07 they reprogrammed them and you have to hold it in the "off" position for like 3 seconds. Okay I guess except I was used to the old way and once I left a car running for a loooooooong time because I thought I had turned it off.

Once you've had it you won't want to live without it. My STS had it. As the other poster said, it's the auto lock (und unlock if I remember right?) that is THE feature. You end up disliking every other car once you have this it is so convenient. Your fob never has to leave your pocket. This also is what you get used to. Over the life of this body style it will become standard on entry level luxury cars.

Keyless / FOB is really what I'm a fan of now. Whether a button to push or switch to rotate isn't really the important factor for me. It's the FOB function I've grown to really like.
