    Where does yours chip?

I am wondering if it would be wise to have some clear shield / clear bra applied to the front of the hood to protect it from paint chips.

Where do these cars tend to take a beating??

Actually with the amount of kilometers I've done, in combination with where I live (lots of sanding, gravel laid down during winter months), I'm pretty lucky...

The only thing that messes with me are massive rocks kicked off large trucks, and I mean MASSIVE. For some reason they've never caused a dent, I think I'll be able to just buff out the massive scuffs...

Yes clearbra is a worthwhile investment.
I had the front end done including 18" on the hood and side mirrors.
A year and a half later no chips.
Some folks also do the rocker panels and rear bumper.

    Re: Where does yours chip?

Picked up a new V Coupe for my wife a few weeks ago and the first thing I did was wrap it. At this point over half the car is wrapped. Front fascia, headlights, full hood, full fenders, removed factory film in front of the rear wheels and did full rockers, mirrors, full doors, and the rear decklid under the trunk. I'm debating wrapping the rear quarters to minimize damage to the flared rear fenders from the front tires.

I would expect the most critical areas to be the front of the hood for chipping and the front fascia and headlights for pitting.

    Re: Where does yours chip?

I just got a nice chip on my front drivers side bumper thanks to someone licking up a nice rock on the highway. I was so pissed now I'm debating just leaving it or getting the bumper repaired.

    Re: Where does yours chip?

I'd suggest getting the entire hood. I just got a nice one to the metal right at the back of the hood before the windshield. Always get chips beyond that first third of the hood they always cover with the bra.

I went crazy and had them do the entire front end, incl. part of the roof and the mirrors.

Part of the roof? Holy cow...never thought about that. Whenever I wash it, I do notice a ridge of gunk all along that glass/roof seam.

Just right up to the line where the sunroof starts in case some rock at high speed still hits there, it's not much and I don't know if it helps.

Spray-on 3M coating. When you're done for the year, just peel it off (or leave it on all year like I did).

Mine is chipped there. Cover it if possible.
