    Would it?

I thought the manual makes more rwhp/rwtq than the auto. That would suggest that it would top out a little bit higher (which is akin to an insignificant difference, but...)

Is drivetrain loss lower for the manual?
Is the engine programmed to limit torque (differently) for either transmission?

I don't believe Cadillac publishes separate torque number for Autos vs manuals.

The top speed difference is likely to protect the automatic transmission or there may be some high end driveline power losses.

Just remember, the Wagon may not be the fastest but it is the coolest.

Right. It's governed to 175 mph to limit the speed of the output shaft.

    Best regards,

178 mph, wow! Is your V stock and about how much time and distance did it take to do it?
It was stock. And I have no idea how much time or distance...i was just trying to hold on it's alot different in a car then a bike. Not sure if I'd try it again. But i did get to 162 a couple mos ago...but still a big difference in just 16mph lol

On the other hand, my wife's automatic quietly and quickly moves ahead of traffic in a stealth like manner. I love the automatics, and I think the manuals are lesser, old technology that is fun but no longer superior... Just my biased opinion.
The automatic saps way too much enjoyment out of driving...

Are we sure it's not the fastest? It's said to have the best aero, and weight isn't really a factor for top speed...

In either configuration, boring is a memory with the slam of the right foot! We all know this!

The wagon has been clocked as being slightly slower by a tenth or two of a second. I think it's due to the additional weight.

It may be less quick at lower speeds, but the comment's about fastest -- top speed.

    Hey Xaqtly,
Yes, I am specifically talking (only) about CTS-V's that I have owned. Maybe my definitions of quickly and quietly are different than yours. I think I have that right. I never invested myself in hp or torque "numbers". I am ONLY interested in performance. So my manual may have a little more torque; but my wife's automatic is way faster! Facts only. See you at the dragstrip to prove it....I am in northern new jersey, and I need more friends to cruise with. C'mon over, and I will show you the nitrous kit I added to be able to beat the wife's badass automatic. Sometimes the truth hurts, but us manual guys can always modify!

    ----------

Hey Big Jim; love ya man! I can't believe you don't have a "V" anymore !
'Personally, I will take faster over "enjoyment" any day of the week. Please come back to us with a new V3 (manual); as soon as you can!
