Link, for those interested in checking their oil: http://www.blackstone-labs.com

They send you a kit to collect the oil and mail it to them, free of charge. It consists of a small 3 oz. bottle for the sample, a baggie to put the oil bottle in, an absorbent sheet to wrap it, and a larger outer plastic bottle, the smaller bottle goes in, pre-addressed to them. Cost is $25 for basic analysis and $10 more to check additives. USPS charged me ~$2.00 to mail it.

For me, kinda ends the argument over how many miles are too many between oil changes, and how long oil can sit in the pan, and still be fine...

I did my oil sample at 3,500 miles on my 2013 V Coupe and they said the oil was still good and to change it every 4,000 miles or so. The factory blue AC Delco oil filter is only good for a maximum of 5,000 miles. I wouldn't run the factory oil and factory oil filter more than 5K miles. I used the same Dexos 1 oil, but used the ZR1 factory BLACK UPF48R oil filter. The ZR1 oil filters are full synthetic media and filter the oil much better than the factory OEM blue filter. I also have Amsoil EA oil filters as well. I may run Mobil 1 and Amsoil oil filters on my 2014 V Coupe when I get it or run the Amsoil signature series oil with the Amsoil oil filters. Can't go wrong with Mobil 1 or Amsoil. After reading several oil reviews, I have concluded that Mobil 1 is a very highly rated oil for it's price and availability and Amsoil is better if you are looking at TBN figures and looking to go 25K miles in between oil changes. I still don't think any oil and filter combo should be run for 25K miles. I would still change it every 5K with the best stuff available as it really is cheap insurance to have fresh clean oil and a new oil filter.

According the oil analysis report, he is using the factory Dexos 1 oil. Dexos 1 is NOT a full synthetic oil...it's a synthetic blend. Just an FYI.
