    Oil Change do-it-yourself special

AutoZone is running their usual oil change special. You can choose either Pennzoil or Mobil 1 synthetic. I chose Pennzoil as it actually beat Mobil 1 in a recent head to head test, but I digress. Unlike Advance Auto Parts, AutoZone actually ships their oil change specials to your home AND allows you to use discount codes......so here's where it gets fun.

    1) Link through ebates.com to secure 4% rebate on your entire purchase
    2) Load Pennzoil Synthetic into your cart in multiples of 5. You'll need 15 to get this deal.
    3) Opt for the upgraded filter, Royal Purple or Mobil 1 in this case. You'll need 3.
    4) Total at checkout (before tax) is $107.97.
    5) Use code GIFT25 to receive a $25 gift card via mail.
    6) Because you're cart is over $75 shipping is free.

But wait there's more. There's also a rebate for $.50 off per gallon for each oil change deal. There doesn't seem to be a limit, but not sure. Fillups are limited to 20 gals. This is good through February 10th.

    http://contentinfo.autozone.com/znet.../en_US/804.pdf

    So all in:

    1) Buy 3 Pennzoil oil change deals for $107.97
    2) Get $25 gift card via mail = $82.97
    3) Get 4% rebate through ebates = $78.65
    4) Get up to $1.50 off per gallon (20 gals.) = $48.65
    5) So all together you have 3 synthetic oil change deals delivered to your house for just over $16 per change. All good.

    Re: Oil Change do-it-yourself special

the service tech at my local dealership just recommended a transmission fluid change for $1,100. My car is a 2011 Escalade with 33k miles. we never tow anything, in fact, usually around town driving except 4 trips to Southern Cal from Las Vegas the last two years. The owner's guide states this service should be done at 50k miles. i'm a long ways from that. other than the Vegas heat i can't think of why this would be necessary while i don't want to avoid service that is critical to the health of the vehicle. Any thoughts?

Well it just got better. For some reason the Ebates site glitches with AutoZone total purchases. I doesn't show the discount for the oil change special and actually shows the total receipt with the $25 gift card included, even though its FREE! This happened when I bought my Airaid CAI from them as well. So now instead of 4% = $4.32, ebates is giving me back $6.95. This nets the deal down and additional $2.73, so now we're in $46 territory for the 3 oil changes.

    Typical dealer BS.

    ----------

I just did my purchase. If you have an auto zone customer card every 5 purchases over $20 = $20 gift card so this order counts as 1.

Costco has a running sale on Mobil 1 right now at $26.99 per case, limit 3 until February 23, 2014. Look into that deal too. That's the best deal around for Mobil 1.

Regular price of a case of Mobil 1 at Costco is: $36.99. This is a deal!

Yup, Autozone has a better deal on Mobil 1. The best part is no trip to Costco to wait in lines, these are mailed to your home. Also Costco doesn't offer a filter so you got to got pay $12 for each Mobil 1 oil filter. You can buy 3 Mobil 1 oil change deals (5 qts + filter) for $107.97, shipped to your home for free and get the $25 gift card and the 4% rebate which nets you down to $76-ish for 15qts and 3 filters vs. $81 for your deal and no filters.

Costco gives you a 6 quart case for $26.99. The Autozone deal is only 5 quarts.

    cosco $4.50 per qt x 15 = 67.50

auto zone = $76 for 15 quarts plus 3 oil filters. delivered to door. who wants to lug 5 cases of motor oil?
both are good deals. I would rather give my money to auto zone than cosco.

    Re: Oil Change do-it-yourself special

I just loaded up on oil a few weeks ago at advance auto....they had a BOGO deal for pennzoil synthetic.....so I loaded up with 18 quarts at around 4.50 per quart (8.99 reg price). I still have to buy the filters, but it is still a savings off the typical special of $29.99 for 5 quarts and filter.

The autozone deal is a bit better, though, but I am already past my self-set "inventory" limit.

Can get a Mobil 1 oil change, including filter, at my dealer for $58 and change. When I feel the compulsion to do an oil change I service my lawn tractor.

Damn, nice find for sure!!!!!!!! I'm just not sure that I'll need all that in the near future. My reminder goes 8K to 10K between changes, and I just changed mine! Double damn!
