My Boost Gauge is not responding.

I am not sure if I am being overly concerned about nothing or if there is truly something wrong but my boost gauge doesn't move while in giving it gas in park. And when I lifted the hood I heard a sporadic knocking noise as if a screw is rattling around in my engine. Any help or suggestions on what it may be is most appreciated.

I don't think you'll get boost when in Park. Ticking noise is normal.

What he said. Look for boost when moving and there is some drag on the wheels. Hammer it then and report back.

Yeah... boost gauge won't move under light acceleration. I was concerned as well when I first got the car and the needle didn't move. Bit of a scare actually since my gauge reads in kilopascals and I initially thought it was the oil pressure gauge! I had never heard of boost referred to in metric before!

    Best regards,

    Elie

there will be some boost built when you're in neutral. I just tried it in my car and when I floor it for a split second while in park, the b oost climbs up a few psi. I suppose the bypass valve can only flow so much volume and the instantaneous flow of air from the throttle body to the supercharger allows some air to be compressed, and most of it to be bypassed.

New update . I found the problem the CAI tube connecting to the Filter was slightly off. So I unscrewed the clamp and reattached and tighten it up. Took her for a spin and my Boost gauge is back along with the ever so beautiful whine sound. I am still going to take it in just for a check up on the engine noises but judging from what other say on the form that's perfectly normal . Thank you everybody for your input. Semper Fi

    Hello dnevels,

I am glad to hear that you were able to find the problem that was affecting your boost gauge! Keep us updated when you do take your CTS-V into the dealership to get checked out. Laura and I will be on the lookout for your future updates.

There is no problem with the gauge.

It really doesn't move unless you are under wide open throttle. Floor it from a stop (and keep it floored) and it should go a little past the middle. Don't baby the car!
