Does it make me not such a loser if I have some bottles of Delirium Tremens and Nocturnum at home as well?

That is not what I was referring to. I was referring what the general population can afford. The average person there has nothing compared to what we can afford here in America. They also don't have the opportunity. If your wife's family was the exception and not the rule, that doesn't change the facts. Funny thing is, she moved here instead of you moving there. I know I'm going to regret this but I seem unable to stop myself. First let me apologize for any spelling errors the truth is I'm not going to invest enough time in this to check it. I returned 3 months ago after living in Germany for the last 16 years. In the last few years I have been asked to speak in front dozens of organization and groups (including the US military) wit regard to the culture differences between the EU and the US. I was not in the military but worked closely with many who were. I can say without a doubt that the understanding our fine military folks get of Germany or any other Country is very thin. The military goes to great lengths to make sure our soldiers have a large but mostly closed community to rely on whether personnel live on or off base. The differences in ownership you refer to is mostly cultural not economic. It is true that Germany has 30% of the population of the US in the same land mass of Montana so land and houses are pricey. As a result, owning a home, although much more common than your post seems to suggest, is simply not as high on the cultural priority list. Most Germans I know would place a higher priority on the quality of there vacations than buying property and would spend a much higher % of their income on free time than most Americans would be comfortable with. One other point is that that Germans have among the lowest personal ratio in the world and will often pay cash for things like a car they afford rather than borrow to get a more expensive model.

In short we are all prisoners of our own experience and I'm sure your comments represent your truth as you understand it. I can only say that my experience and research has brought me to a different conclusion.

Everyone, please. We need to keep this thread on topic. Just to remind everyone, this is about how GM is Mickey Mouse for not making a 556hp V8 CTS-V in 2014 and how Canada makes the best cars.

    (laughs a little inside)

Nahuh... It's about who make the best beer and who has the best country. What's a CTS-V? There is no spoon.

Re: Gm is sometimes mickey mouse. There is no v8 556hp v. So why is it on their websi

To honor all our so called experts, myself most definitely included, I'm sharing one of my favorite forum spoofs...

How many forum posters does it take...
    To change a light bulb

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed.

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently.

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs.

6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ...

Another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid.

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp".

15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct.

19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a light bulb forum.

11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum.

36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty.

5 People to post pics of their own light bulbs.

15 People to post "I can't see S$%^!" and their own light bulbs.

7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs.

4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's.

13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too".

5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy.

4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

13 to say "do a search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs".

1 to bring politics into the discussion by adding that George W. (old spoof so substitute Barry for George) isn't the brightest bulb.

4 more to get into personal attacks over their political views.

1 moderator threatening lock the light bulb thread.

1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.
