    Very true!
Our local Lambo/Aston/Bentley dealership knows this very well and treats everyone well because they never know if the next young guy in a T shirt isn't some professional athlete...

I have to laugh at my late father in this respect. He was a very quiet non-opposing man who worked in the kitchen as a dishwasher of the restaurant he owned. Not the classy/flashy dresser he did love his cars and did quite well financially. When I was a teenager he took his old beat up International truck to the exotic dealer. We walked in and he was looking at the beauty 308 on the floor. No one would give him the time of day all the "seasoned" sales guys looked the other way. A younger less presumptuous guy finally came over, and my dad said I will take this one. He kinda stammered and asked about financing. My dad laughed and handed him cash. To this day I remember his lesson and occasionally employ the same tactic for the car I know I want just to keep folks guessing.

I want to be your "dad" in the worst way. Briefcase full of cash, Tommy Bahama t-shirt and sandals. "Yeah, write that one up" and drive out with a Murcielago or some badass exotic. Great story!

Not something I've ever encountered. They must not be in any hurry to sell you a car. Strange practice indeed.

this happens all the time, I mean Scion dealers are refusing to allow test drives of the FR-S. 90% of the time it is on halo/performance versions of cars in the lineup. You are not going to be refused to test drive a malibu as long as you can provide a DL and proof of insurance.

If you really want to be ignored or quickly dismissed……drive up to a dealer on a motorcycle…especially a sport bike. If I'm just looking, thats great as I don't want to be bothered. Some sales guys that know bikes, realize I'm on a 17K bike and they will approach me. But most don't.

I retired from Cadillacs w/30 yrs. Drove Cadillacs since 1979, had 2 Allante's for the weekend (#29 & 1 of the first ones with a Northstar) Been trying to get a "V" for the weekend ever since they came out No luck. Right after we came out with the Northstar, I had a black Eldorado ETC, our chief Northstar engineer drove in the plant with a black STS pulling a black ski boat with an all chrome Northstar, they wouldn't let me take that for a weekend, either.

I believe they stereotype you into someone who can't afford to buy it when they first look at you. I am a gentleman in my mid 30's, work a
respectable job in healthcare and make a decent living. Also, I have both arms fully sleeved in Japanese art. I went to Stevens Creek Cadillac in San Jose, CA and asked to test drive one and the douchey salesman looked at me and told me they only test drive them to people "actually" looking to
buy one.. I laughed at the guy.. Was told the same thing by the car washer/new salesman after contacting Fremont GMC Cadillac Buick to look at an 11 they hadn't sold in a year. I mean, do we have to waive our 31k$ down payment in their face for them to understand you can't stereotype buyers anymore? Ended up getting the 11 from Fremont for a great price..
