    Supercharger rattle

So I took my V in today for an oil change and to get a fob replaced. I mentioned that the supercharger is noisy and they said they would take a look at it. Next thing I know they are calling me to say they are replacing the supercharger. I know there are many looooong threads on the supercharger replacement, but is there anything I need to make sure they take care of while they are in there?

From what I here GM/Eaton did not make this change to the ZL1. Therefore I think it will be the same as before. My understanding is that if you do this upgrade on your own it voids the warranty. I felt comfortable doing this cause I've done several mods to my V. And I didn't like the idea of having that odd sound sitting at a light. So no I don't think the dealer will do this for you. But if you decide to do some pullys and headers and a larger intercooler. You may as well put the solid isolator and a catch can on too. BTW all cars need catch cans now a days. The blower will stay cleaner and efficient. IMO

Never in 12 years and app 14,000 cans have ever had a warranty voided.

The solid coupler for the SC rattle reduces the SC life by 40% plus according to GM as it transfers all the shock and vibration to the bearings and rotors the OEM one was designed to isolate it from. There is a new one coming out in the next few months that does eliminate the rattle and has a built in absorption/give that does both eliminate the noise and protect/isolate the head unit from the stresses that damage them. Hope to see it released in the next 60 days.

A catch can will not void the warranty.

    ----------

Can't wait till my SC goes out at around 60-70 thousand miles then. Then I can put a 2.3 on

Again, as I posted in the long supercharger thread, this needs confirmation, a link, a person, etc. about the wear information for a solid coupler.

All I know is that every car I've owned starts to make annoying sounds. The cure has always been to make the exhaust louder.

I'm surprised they are able to replace it. A lot of owners are stuck listening to a can of marbles because gm wouldn't warranty it.
